Today it rained properly for the first time in ages - and it was nice!
It felt sort of 'normal'. The warm dry weather was wonderful while it lasted, but I wondered what price had been paid for it?
And, today yet another leaflet from a government department arrived in the post.
Last week we all got one on parenting. Today's was about the National Climate Change Strategy.
As a nation, Ireland's record for adhering to the Kyoto Protocol is pretty bleak, so now the government have set up a 'strategy'.
And, to let everyone know that they are actively doing something - ie setting up a strategy - they print hundreds of thousands of leaflets and distribute them to every house in the country!
We're really great at forming committees and commissioning reports and looking busy, but not so good at actually getting anything done!
I wonder who's bright idea this particular exercise was?
What bright spark decided it would be a great move to flood the country with leaflets and bombard us with information in the weeks coming up to the election?
Does anyone actually believe that leaflets are going to solve anything?
Or are our public representatives so naïve that they think they're fooling anybody?
All help with the costs of running the askmammy site is very gratefully received.
